The vision

A mount for every way to travel

A growing roster of fantasy mounts to find, tame, breed and ride.

The Unicorn

It started with a unicorn my wife and I could ride together, and grew from there.

What guides it

Principles

  1. Every kind of mount, one system

Walking, flying, hovering, gliding, swimming, wading through lava and climbing walls all run on the same rules, and so do seats for 1 to 6 riders. Today that covers 19 flyers, 12 swimmers, 7 climbers and 2 that cross lava.

  2. A mount is data and art

Adding a mount is mostly a set of data files (its definition, seats, coats and where it spawns) and its model, not new code. The same files are open to data packs, so packs and servers can retune stats, spawns and abilities.

  3. Every version we can reach

One codebase builds 7 jars, Forge and NeoForge for Minecraft 1.20.1 through 26.3, each checked by automated tests inside the game.

  4. Old worlds come along

Unicorns and polar bears tamed under the original mod carry over into the new one, coats and markings included. Nobody should lose a mount to an update.

  5. Fair on servers

The server has the last word on movement, so mounts behave the same for everyone, and owners can cap flight, riders and abilities in the config.

  6. Shown as it is

The mod's marketing art and everything on this site are drawn from its own models and textures, and this site rebuilds from them on every deploy. What you see here is what you ride in game.
